Domestic Violence Awareness

Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Domestic Violence Awareness Month has its roots in the “Day of Unity”, which was first held by the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence in October 1981 as a way to connect advocates who were working to end violence against women and children. Soon, this Day of Unity became a Week of Unity and, by 1989, the U.S. Congress passed a law 101-112 designating October as National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

During the month of October, Cornerstone will be collecting money here at the store all month to donate to the Domestic Violence Services of Cumberland and Perry Counties.

Also, be sure to show your support by attending the Candlelight Vigil held to honor and remember those lost and affected by domestic violence at the Camp Hill Borough Building on Thursday night, October 15th.
