Clare Margaret

Cornerstone’s Artist of the Month for April 2015

Clare Margaret

Below is a recent Q&A with Clare Margaret.

Tell us briefly about your background & how you got started in your medium.
I was a silkscreen artist for many years. I hand cut all my designs for print. Cutting paper is almost the same process but more versatile.

How does your medium inform your viewpoint? Or what do you like most about your medium?
I love paper & everything about it

Who or what have been your artistic inspirations?
I love to see other paper artists work & understand their methods & goals. Simplicity & wonder inspire me. Matisse is a perfect example

Do you have a favorite piece in your portfolio?
I cannot say I have a favorite piece as each time one leaves me for a new home it becomes my favorite.

What would be your advice for artists just starting out in your medium?
So long as you enjoy making your art keep on making more. Experiment a lot & try different things.
