Clare has cultivated a passion for art through most of her life. In high school, she minored in art for four years and spent her summers taking art courses. Now long graduated, Clare has taken classes at The Art Center School & Galleries of Mechanicsburg for the past eight years, exhibiting her art there from 2007 to 2012.
Clare is also very involved in the local art community, a member of the Susquehanna Valley Plein Air Painters. Through her involvement, she has won a number of awards. One of her paintings, “Sipping on Sunshine,” was accepted into the 2012 juried exhibition “Keystone National: Works on Paper.” Clare was also named winner of the Purchase Award at the Camp Hill Plein Air Arts Festival & Competition in 2013.
Clare has expressed that painting is as spiritual for her as it is enjoyable. “Through God’s colorful creations, she is inspired to paint reflections of His handywork,” stated one biography. Clare hopes for those who view her paintings to be as touched by them as she was pleased to create them.
Over her career, Clare has experimented with several types of drawing and painting, including pastels, watercolors & colored pencils. She also takes photographs, which she uses as subject matter for her paintings. Pet portraits are one of Clare’s specialties, and she accepts commissions!
In addition to being displayed at Cornerstone this month, Clare’s original paintings, prints and cards are available for purchase at Art & Soul in Lemoyne; Carlisle Arts Learning Center in Carlisle; Village Artisans in Boiling Springs; Allenberry Resort in Boiling Springs; and The Art Center School & Galleries in Mechanicsburg.
